Hello! It has been a while, hasn't it? If you are a major nerd like I am, then on your random tours on SparkNotes you have seen that it is Confidence Pants week. What are confidence pants? Well, they are quite similar to "big girl panties" in that they are not literal, but people generally know what you mean. Confidence pants are supposed to be "worn" when you need to be confident about something. I recently put on my confidence pants and did something out of my comfort zone and even though I didn't get the results that I desired, it gave me a really good feeling, so I suggest to all of you to put on your confidence pants and go for something that you might not normally. If you would like to read some of the Confidence Pants articles, here is a handy, dandy link: community.sparknotes.com/life

In other news, Theater season is over for a bit. This year, my school's spring musical  was Oklahoma! When I heard Oklahoma I was thinking that it was going to be terrible and that it would totally suck. However, I actually had a really good time. There were plenty of sexual innuendos to fill the "Power Row" (that's what we call our light/sound booth) quota, the characters were cast very well (complete with an Indian Curly aka Chocolate Cowboy), and I felt like I actually had things to contribute to the show. There was only two things that disappointed me during the show. 1. The fact that we have square and circle lighting instruments and it was a bitch to create a clean wash.and 2. I wish I could have done the opening scene differently. Now, there is a story behind that one. So, my co-lighting manager, Keri, and I had this really awesome sunrise that we had planned out and we had talked it over with our technical director. But one of the days previous to setting up the lighting, there was a different drop being used for the opening scene. This drop was quite intricate and had details on it that would have made our sunrise look really random and stupid. We were told that "Big Blue" was going to be used. When our faces turned from confusion to problem solving we  came up with a few alternatives to the drop system, so that out sunrise would still be beautiful and amazingly awesome. We talked to the stage manager and the directors and the decision was that the barn/hill drop had to stay and we would have to figure out a new sunrise. This was a face-palm moment for me. We had ordered this cool gobo, the sweetest gel technique ever,  and had the designs all drawn up and in a few minutes they wouldn't happen. Eventually, we still got to use the gobo and the fancy gel, but it wasn't what I had envisioned and although it looked alright and the audience got the point, I wish I could have done it differently.
So, now you want to know what we were going to do, am I right? Well, are plan was to use strip lights to create a basic orangish wash on the drop that would fade as it reached the bottom. Then there would be our light on the floor a few feet in front of the drop (they didn't want lights too far downstage, because they wanted Curly silhouetted), and in that light there would be a sun gobo and a mixed gel of dark reds and dark oranges. Next there would be a light on the second electric that would have a cloud gobo in it and a dark yellow. medium yellow mixed gel in it. I'm not sure if that description is as vivid as the image in my mind (probably not), but I if you are a lighting person, you probably get at least a gist.

So, what else is going on? Not much, honestly. I am the event planner for my local 24 Hour Theater this year. I have been applying for a whole bunch of scholarships as a Junior (including an ELT one, for those who know what that is), and now I'm on Spring Break. I don't have very many plans, except for visiting a few colleges and volunteering at a local Pride and Joy event, but I'm sure I will enjoy the relaxation. Oh, but I do wish that it would be a little more Spring-y around here! Snow is not the appropriate spring weather.

I hope all is going well,
Hi. Hug. Bye. :aww:
